Penny Martin will speak at the Inter-Pacific Bar Association (IPBA) Arbitration Day 2023, “Tackling current grey areas in arbitration – Towards certainty and finality”, as part of Singapore Convention Week 2023.

Singapore Convention Week, organised by the Singapore Ministry of Law, is a signature event in Singapore, focusing on dispute resolution, including arbitration, mediation and litigation. It serves as a key platform for thought leaders, experts, practitioners and policy makers, to discuss emerging trends, address common issues and drive change.

Penny will speak on a panel titled “Tribunal – Increasing problems that are “old” and new, and suggested solutions from the arbitrators, counsel, and institutions”.  The panel will explore topics including greater transparency in relation to conflicts of interest, new and creative arbitrator challenges based on conduct of the arbitration, progress on the diversity of tribunal members, and the adequacy of controls on arbitrators’ fees.

The hybrid event will take place on Wednesday 30 August from 9:30am to 5.00pm SGT at Maxwell Chambers, Singapore, and online via zoom.
