Penny Martin participated in an interactive virtual roundtable discussion titled ‘“Arbitration is only as good as the arbitrator!” – are practitioners more effective as arbitrators?’ as part of Hong Kong Arbitration Week, hosted by Fangda Partners.
The interactive discussion centred around a fireside chat with Neil Kaplan CBE KC SBS and Peter Thorp, moderated by Olga Boltenko. The discussion explored whether arbitrators should have prior experience in private practice, arbitral institutions or the judiciary, or whether non-practitioner arbitrators with subject-matter expertise can be equally effective. Penny offered perspectives and conclusions as practitioner rapporteur.
The event took place on Monday 24 October from 3:00 to 3:45pm HKT.
