Jonathan Fernandes and Vamika Puri have co-authored the chapter on “Managing and resolving insurance disputes in the satellite sector” in the second edition of The Guide to Aviation and Space Disputes, recently published by Global Arbitration Review.
The chapter examines the role of insurance as a key risk-allocation tool in the satellite sector, and identifies the types of disputes between insurers and insureds that most commonly arise over the course of a satellite’s lifecycle. Against this background, the chapter explores the practical and strategic considerations involved in resolving these disputes through arbitration.
