Constantine Partasides KC will deliver a keynote address titled “Meditations on Counter-Insurgency Techniques in International Arbitration” at the upcoming ITA-IEL-ICC Joint Conference, hosted by the Institute for Transnational Arbitration, in collaboration with the Institute for Energy Law and the International Chamber of Commerce.
In his address, Constantine will explore how arbitral tribunals might respond more effectively to guerrilla tactics in arbitration. He will examine topics including the forfeiture of rights, the use of costs orders, and the potential recognition and/or regulation of arbitration’s equivalent of contempt of court, ie the notion of “contempt of arbitration”, as a means of strengthening procedural discipline.
The keynote will take place on Friday, 23 January 2026, from 9:05 to 9:35 am (CT) in Houston, TX.
