Georgios Petrochilos, a founding partner of Three Crowns based principally in the Paris office, has been appointed Queen’s Counsel (QC). The appointment is by HM The Queen on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, following the recommendation of the independent Queen’s Counsel Appointments body. The designation of Queen’s Counsel, also known as “silk,” is an acknowledgement of excellence in advocacy. Georgios is one of three arbitration specialists in this year’s QC cohort of 116 appointees. The Lord Chancellor said of this year’s appointments, “The award of QC is a tremendous achievement, made even more impressive against the additional challenges we have all faced this year.”
With this appointment, Georgios becomes the third QC in the Three Crowns partnership, joining Constantine Partasides QC and Reza Mohtashami QC. Georgios is an English barrister, an avocat à la Cour in France, and originally qualified as an Advocate in Greece, promoted to the Court of Cassation bar.
Georgios said, “I am honoured to receive this distinction, and to join the QC cohort of distinguished colleagues at Three Crowns and the international arbitration community. I owe a debt of gratitude to all those who gave me opportunities to work on fascinating, challenging cases. And I look forward to the next chapter, supporting younger colleagues in their career development.”
Luke Sobota, the firm’s executive partner said, “Georgios has been at the forefront of some of the most important arbitrations of the past decades. His multi-disciplinary practice stands him out in the field and we are proud of his most recent achievement.”
