Three Crowns has been ranked seventh in the world for international arbitration by Global Arbitration Review, moving up a place from last year in the GAR 30. The GAR 100 is an annual guide to the top one hundred international arbitration practices globally. As part of this, the GAR 30 uses objective data to single out the highest performing firms within the rankings.
The fourteenth edition of the guide showcases some of Three Crowns’ recent victories, across a variety of industry sectors, including a $170 million UNCITRAL award for Ghana Power Generation Company against Ghana for the cancellation of an emergency contract, a $100 million ICC award for a subsidiary of Canadian engineering firm SNC-Lavalin and Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund Mubadala in a dispute with an Algerian state entity, a $58 million LCIA award in a dispute between two Russian businessmen, and an interim award for Crescent Petroleum in a $18.6 billion arbitration against the National Iranian Oil Company regarding the termination of a long-term gas supply contract.
A client described Three Crowns as “second to none in international arbitration and particularly investor-state disputes”, noting that “it tends to staff cases differently from other firms, with a lower associate to partner ratio and with heavy involvement from senior partners”, which “works well”. Another stated that the firm was “proficient, knowledgeable and timely in their representation”.
