Three Crowns is delighted to announce the establishment of the Jan Paulsson Scholarship. Each academic year, the Jan Paulsson Scholarship will provide substantial financial assistance to a promising LL.M. applicant at the Geneva Center for International Dispute Settlement. To be eligible for the scholarship, a candidate must be a national of a developing economy who is able to demonstrate financial need.
The scholarship honours the extraordinary legacy of Jan Paulsson, one of Three Crown’s founding partners, and his steadfast commitment to the mentorship and training of junior practitioners.
Three Crowns has selected as the scholarship’s inaugural recipient Efemena Iluezi-Ogbaudu. Mr. Iluezi-Ogbaudu is a recent graduate of Nigerian Law School and will attend the Geneva Center for International Dispute Settlement’s LL.M. program in the 2021-2022 academic year. On receiving the scholarship, Mr. Iluezi-Ogbaudu says “I’d like to express my sincere gratitude to Three Crowns LLP for the Jan Paulsson Scholarship. It’s an honour to be the inaugural recipient. I look forward to participating in the MIDS programme and to giving back to my country and continent. Africa has a strong arbitration community, but what it really needs is an arbitration culture. The increasing prospects for global and intra-African trade and the inefficient court systems make this extremely important and I hope to contribute to its growth. There is a lot to learn and I cannot wait to get started.”
Jan Paulsson says, “I am touched by my former partners’ commitment to the opening of doors into the field of international dispute resolution. Given the luminous memories of my childhood homeland in West Africa, I am especially pleased with the selection of the impressive first recipient.”
