Luke Sobota and Hugh Carlson co-direct International Arbitration Workshop at Harvard Law School

News 27th September 2017

This academic year, Luke Sobota and Hugh Carlson will co-direct the International Arbitration Workshop at Harvard Law School. The Workshop, organized under the auspices of the Harvard International Law Students Association, is a nine-session program that will guide students through the life-cycle of an international arbitration dispute. The sessions will address topics such as written submissions, cross-examination, valuation of damages, cross-cultural advocacy, and the recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards.

Commenting on the Workshop, Mr. Sobota said that it “presents a unique opportunity for students to gain significant exposure to the practice of international arbitration. Leading practitioners, arbitrators, and academics have graciously volunteered to lead the Workshop’s nine sessions, and their instruction will better allow participating students to understand and address the complexities of international arbitration.”

Prominent figures in international arbitration who will lecture at the Workshop include the Honorable Charles N. Brower, Jean Kalicki, Mark Kantor, and Professor William “Rusty” Park, among many others.

Joining Mr. Sobota and Mr. Carlson as co-directors of the Workshop are Hiroko Yamamoto (Harvard Law ’18) and Christian Vandergeest (Harvard Law ’18).
