Luke Sobota and Ryan Manton co-author the second edition of International Arbitration: Three Salient Problems

News 4th March 2020

Three Crowns is pleased to announce the publication of International Arbitration: Three Salient Problems, co-authored by Luke Sobota, Ryan Manton and Judge Stephen M. Schwebel, former President of the International Court of Justice, with contributions from Julia Sherman.

A second edition to Judge Schwebel’s seminal treatise, the book combines the historical analysis of the first edition with a survey of the continued salience and contemporary developments for each of the three problems identified: (i) the severability of the arbitration agreement; (ii) denial of justice (and now other possible breaches of international law) by governmental negation of arbitration; and (iii) the authority of truncated international arbitral tribunals. Since the first edition was published in 1987, the international arbitral process continues to be fortified against unilateral attempts to derail it and, to that end, this book is intended to be a valuable guide for practitioners and scholars alike.

International Arbitration: Three Salient Problems is available from Cambridge University Press here.
