Liz Snodgrass and Kathryn Khamsi speak at Mining Indaba General Counsel Forum 2024

Liz Snodgrass and Kathryn Khamsi recently spoke at the Investing in African Mining Indaba General Counsel Forum 2024, hosted by Africa Legal. Three Crowns is proud to have sponsored this year’s GC Forum, which centered on the theme, “Disruptor or Disrupted?”.

Delivering the keynote address, Liz empowered in-house lawyers to act as positive disruptors in their organizations, rather than obstacles to business objectives. She outlined methods for GCs to elevate their contributions, from deepening business insight to proactive problem-solving.

Kathryn moderated a session on the topic, “Taking a step back – Current realities and opportunities in natural resources disputes”, which offered perspectives on the diversity of dispute resolution mechanisms and strategies to minimise litigation risks. The panel benefitted from the insights of Hermien Uys of Vedanta Resources, Michael Schottler of Anglo American, and Daniel Driscoll of Extractives Advisory.

The Mining Indaba GC Forum brings together influential in-house legal professionals from across the African mining sector and beyond, providing a critical platform for meaningful dialogue and exchange. This year’s event explored the dynamic and evolving landscape of the mining sector and emphasised the role of the GC as a critical business driver.
