Hugh Carlson will act as a judge for a debate on the motion, “Advances in artificial intelligence will substantially disrupt the practice of law in the next 5 – 7 years”, as part of an event on Arbitration and Technology hosted by the Stanford International Arbitration Association.
The event will feature opening remarks from Professor Tom Rubin, who will discuss how arbitration is already being impacted by AI and his expectations of the trends for the next few years.
The panellists, Christel Tham (Debevoise) and Sofía Klot (Freshfields), will address the motion on the disruption of the practice of law in the short term. Hugh will be part of the Arbitral Tribunal alongside Sophie Nappert (3VB) and Claire M. De Westgaver (Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner), and will present comments and a decision on the motion.
The virtual debate will take place on Thursday 25 May at 12:00 pm PDT.
