Hamid Abdulkareem will speak on the “Systematic Issues in Commercial Arbitration” panel at the seventh annual Cambridge Arbitration Days 2022, hosted by the Cambridge University Arbitration Society (CUArb).
Hamid will explore the enforcement of ethical standards in international arbitration, touching on the gaps in the existing framework. The panellists will also discuss Halliburton v Chubb and conflicts in arbitral appointments, the Supreme Court decisions of Enka & Chubb and Kabab Ji, and ethics of witness testimony.
Alina Papanastasiou is a co-convener of the conference, and has helped lead the organisation of this year’s event.
The Cambridge Arbitration Days will bring together scholars, practitioners, and students for two days of discussions on intriguing and topical issues in the field of international arbitration. This year’s event will focus on the overarching theme of “Contemporary Issues in International Arbitration” and will include panels on investor-State, commercial, construction, and sports arbitration.
The event, which will be held in-person at the University of Cambridge’s Faculty of Law, will take place on Friday 1 and Saturday 2 April. The panel on which Hamid will speak will be on 2 April from 3:15 to 4:45pm.

ABOUT HAMID ABDULKAREEM
Hamid, counsel in the London office, is an experienced arbitration practitioner and litigator, having regularly advised multinational companies on an extensive range of disputes. She has experience in public international law and international dispute resolution across a range of sectors, including banking & finance, oil & gas, energy and telecommunications.
