Farouk El-Hosseny will act as a trainer in an interactive session on drafting the definition of “investment” and “investor” clauses at the Negotiating and Drafting Bilateral Investment Treaties (BITs) by African Countries Workshop, hosted by the African Institute of International Law and the African Arbitration Association.
The three-part online series will provide training to government officials, academics, practitioners, research students, and professionals with an interest in international investment law and dispute resolution in Africa.
The workshop will take place on Thursday 23 June from 10:00am to 2:30pm BST.
The African Institute of International Law (AIIL) provides specialised training, teaching, and research in international law and the law of the African Union and other African regional organisations. It also offers capacity building for a network of associated faculties of law to strengthen teaching capabilities and acts as a legal think tank on international legal issues relating to the peaceful settlement of disputes in Africa.
The African Arbitration Association (AfAA) is the continent’s promotional body for international arbitration and other forms of international dispute resolution. Its members include leading African international arbitration and ADR practitioners, African arbitration institutions, and initiatives. The AfAA’s role is to support the continuing development of international arbitration in Africa and to improve and recognise the international prominence of its members and their activities. It also serves as a source of information on arbitrating in Africa.
