Ilija Mitrev Penushliski recently spoke on the “ECT Modernization and Energy Transition in the Western Balkans: What lies ahead?” panel at the 8th Sarajevo Arbitration Day.

Ilija discussed the context in which a number of European States decided to leave the ECT system and what this may mean for the future of investment protection.

The event, which covered cutting-edge issues in international arbitration for energy and construction disputes, took place in person on Wednesday 23 November in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.


Ilija is counsel in the Paris office. He has represented clients in international arbitrations conducted under all major arbitration rules. His practice focuses on complex investment and commercial arbitrations, particularly in the energy sector. He has extensive experience with proceedings for the annulment and enforcement of arbitral awards in numerous jurisdictions.
