Gaëtan Verhoosel, a partner in the London office of Three Crowns, will be a featured panellist on “Investment Treaty Planning, Protection and Key Threshold Issues,” the first session of The Knowledge Series on Investment Arbitration, a five-session series co-hosted by the Mumbai Centre for International Arbitration and FTI Consulting.  The webinar takes place on Friday, 25 September from 4:00 – 6:00 pm India Standard Time (GMT +5:30).

Investment Treaty Planning, Protection and Key Threshold Issues

The panel will be discussing the following key topics:

  • How to assess a treaty’s investor-State dispute settlement provision
  • Ensuring that a client and its investment are covered by an investment treaty
  • The role of the abuse of process doctrine
  • Recognition and enforcement of investment treaty awards


Verhoosel has served as advocate and as arbitrator in a large number of both commercial and investment treaty arbitrations. These include many highly significant, widely reported matters with large financial recoveries at stake or novel legal issues involved.

Verhoosel is the Co-Chair of the IBA Arbitration Committee and was appointed to the ICSID Panel of Arbitrators by the Kingdom of Belgium. He teaches international investment law at King’s College School of Law in London.
