Scott Vesel to speak at Stanford Law School on ESG and investment treaties

Events 16th April 2026

Scott Vesel will speak on a panel titled “ESG vs. Investment Treaties: Can International Arbitration Adapt to the Climate Change Transition?” at an event hosted by the Stanford International Arbitration Association at Stanford Law School.

The session will explore how the rise of ESG, particularly the environmental pillar, is reshaping international arbitration in the context of the global energy transition. The discussion will examine the growing tension between investor protections and state regulatory powers, as well as the impact of ESG considerations on corporate governance, investor due diligence, and the assessment of damages in energy and mining disputes.

The panel will take place on Thursday, 16 April, from 12:50 pm to 2:00 pm (PDT) at Stanford Law School (Room 90).
