An English law qualified Senior Associate, Simon acts as advocate in both investor-State and international commercial arbitrations across a broad range of sectors, including financial services, energy and construction.
Simon’s recent engagements include representing an oil major in a dispute with a Southeast Asian State concerning adverse taxation measures, and acting for a Middle Eastern State in relation to a dispute arising from a long-term infrastructure contract. This is representative of the geographic breadth of Simon’s experience, as well as his particular expertise in disputes involving States or State entities.
An emerging thought-leader in the field, Simon speaks and publishes regularly on arbitration, including in Arbitration International and the European Investment Law and Arbitration Review. He is a member of the International Centre for Conflict Prevention and Resolution’s Banking and Financial Services Advisory Committee, as well as a visiting lecturer at the London School of Economics.
A Solicitor-Advocate in England & Wales, Simon holds an MA from the University of Cambridge and an LLB from the University of Law. He speaks Portuguese and reads Spanish.
