An English law qualified Senior Associate, Simon acts as advocate in both investor-State and international commercial arbitrations across a broad range of sectors, including financial services, energy and construction.

Simon’s recent engagements include representing an oil major in a dispute with a Southeast Asian State concerning adverse taxation measures, and acting for a Middle Eastern State in relation to a dispute arising from a long-term infrastructure contract.  This is representative of the geographic breadth of Simon’s experience, as well as his particular expertise in disputes involving States or State entities.

Simon speaks and publishes regularly on arbitration, including in Arbitration International and the European Investment Law and Arbitration Review. He is a member of the International Centre for Conflict Prevention and Resolution’s Banking and Financial Services Advisory Committee, as well as a visiting lecturer at the London School of Economics.

A Solicitor-Advocate in England & Wales, Simon holds an MA from the University of Cambridge and an LLB from the University of Law. He speaks Portuguese and reads Spanish.
