Simon is an English law qualified Solicitor Advocate specialising in international commercial and investment treaty arbitration.
Prior to joining Three Crowns, Simon worked in the international arbitration group of a magic circle law firm in London and Singapore. He has acted for corporations and sovereign States in sectors including financial services, energy and construction.
His recent experience includes:
- Advising an oil major in a dispute with a Southeast Asian State concerning adverse taxation measures and breach of two PSCs.
- Acting for several infrastructure funds in ICSID arbitrations against Spain under the Energy Charter Treaty arising from regulatory measures affecting the renewable energy sector.
- Acting for a South Asian State in two UNCITRAL investment treaty arbitrations concerning a purported energy infrastructure investment.
Simon is a visiting lecturer at the London School of Economics and the University of Middlesex. He is the Chairman of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators’ Young Members’ Group.
