Paulsson will deliver a keynote address, “The evolution of international arbitration over the last 20 years and into the future,” at 9:30 am Gulf Standard Time (UTC +04:00) on Wednesday, 18 November.

Mohtashami will be a featured speaker for a discussion on “Examining the shifting borders of Middle-Eastern commerce,” taking place Tuesday, 17 November from 2:35 – 3:20 pm Gulf Standard Time (UTC +04:00). The panel will explore whether the UAE has what it takes to be an arbitration hub of choice rather than necessity. This discussion will also cover how UAE entities are expanding into new countries and avoiding the pitfalls when dealing with these locations.

Paulsson has practised exclusively as an advocate and arbitrator in international cases since 1975. He is recognised as a top practitioner by all leading directories.

Paulsson is a trustee of the Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution and an expert on the Panel of Recognised Market Experts in Finance (P.R.I.M.E. Finance). Additionally, he served as President of the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), President of the International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA), and a Vice-President of the ICC International Court of Arbitration (Paris).

Mohtashami has represented clients as counsel and advocate in more than 80 arbitrations conducted under a variety of arbitration rules in many different jurisdictions. He has particular expertise in disputes arising in emerging markets.

Mohtashami is a qualified English solicitor-advocate and was appointed Queen’s Counsel in recognition of his advocacy skills in 2018.
